Remembering Pauline Clegg

Our beloved Pauline Clegg, early pioneer of the yoga retreat movement and founder of R&R Resorts, passed away on August 5th, 2019. She will be dearly missed by many.

Pauline was both humble and passionate and led an incredible life. Her vision of having a positive impact on the planet led her to cultivate a community to realize this dream. Over the years, she dedicated herself to building this community through yoga and her partnerships with Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa in Mexico and Pura Vida Retreat & Spa in Costa Rica. She created a successful yoga retreat business model that continues to touch the lives of so many. Those close to her spoke of her gentle spirit, strength, and ability to always have fun.

We are grateful for the condolences, kind thoughts and memories shared by so many of you. Pauline leaves a legacy that will be carried on at R&R Resorts, and the properties they represent, for many years to come.

–The R&R Resorts team

“I just feel very blessed and grateful for all of this beauty that surrounds me.” – Pauline Clegg

Maya-Chaya Juice

Chaya– Mayan Spinach – is used in traditional Mayan influenced cuisine all over the Yucatan Peninsula. From sauces mixed in with veggies, or as part of a delicious smoothie, it has more iron than traditional spinach and is high in potassium and calcium.  Health benefits include improved memory and brain function, as well as helping to combat arthritis and diabetes.

  • 4 Large Chaya leaves
  • 1 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple

*Substitute regular spinach if Chaya is unavailable or frozen fruits instead of fresh if necessary.

  1.  Toss into a blender and liquify.
  2. Strain the juice into a tall glass with ice.
  3. Enjoy!

Experiencing a Temazcal

Travel blogger Ciara Johnson recently returned to Tulum and was determined to try a Temazcal Ceremony – which is always an intense experience. Led by a local Shaman, our Temazcal is a traditional Mayan ritual designed to balance your mind and emotions to bring you inner peace and harmony, releasing stress and detoxifying the body through a series of four guided meditations accompanied by chanting, ancient music – and lots and lots of steam.

Ciara’s experience upon leaving the Temazcal:

“I stepped out onto the sand to the sounds of crashing waves and howling wind. A strong feeling of relief washed over me. I didn’t realize just how intense every second was until the experience was over. Time seemed to stop while I was inside, and the rush of emotion hit me once it all ended.”
