In Mexico, the Day of the Dead is actually a three-day celebration that starts on October 31st and ends on November 2nd. It is a time to remember and celebrate the lives of those who have passed. It is common for people to decorate the graves of their loved ones with brightly colored flowers, candles and items that the individually loved while alive. Tabaco, coffee, food and alcohol are typically used. They also visit the graves of their loved ones to hold vigil. Altars are also erected and decorated with pictures of their loved ones.
