About Maya Tulum:

Maya Tulum is a beautiful, eco-conscious seaside resort on the Mayan Riviera. The elegant, thatch-roofed cabanas are just steps away from the beach. The café features wholesome vegetarian fare and fresh seafood—not to mention all the raw ginger tea you can drink and the finest granola in the land. During your downtime you can indulge in Maya Tulum’s spa services, including such local specialties as the Yoot Kene massage, the Mayan Clay massage, and the Mayan Honey massage.

About Megan: Born and raised in Minnesota, nourished in New York City, Megan took her first yoga class in 2003 while studying abroad in Paris and began teaching four years later at Yoga to the People. Megan has completed the first Anusara Yoga Immersion at Virayoga and has studied anatomy with Amy Matthews at the Breathing Project. In 2012, she completed Kula Yoga Project's 75-hour Advanced Teacher Training program. An eternal student, she is presently enrolled in Tiffany Cruikshank’s 500-hour Yoga Medicine program.

Megan strives to teach the kind of class she enjoys taking: balanced, creative, dynamic and intelligent. She is grateful to the teachers who inspire her—Elena Brower, Isaac Peña and Schuyler Grant—and to Hilary Edesess for taking her to her first yoga class.

About David: In 1999, while Prince was partying, David was taking his first meditation class. A steady practitioner ever since, he has been teaching since 2007. He apprenticed with Greg Gumucio, founder of Yoga To The People, and has completed many hundreds of hours of teacher training, including Isaac Peña's Sankalpah Yoga program. He has also completed the first Anusara Yoga Immersion, Bryan Kest's Power Yoga Teacher Training, as well as Gil Hedley's Integral Anatomy course.

David is a certified practitioner of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, and has trained in a variety of bodywork modalities. Born in England, he spent some years in France and Africa, before moving to New York City in 2006 and then Minneapolis in 2011. Hannah Bader is an 8+ year certified (E-RYT) Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher. She owns and operates Yoga Baja, an oceanfront Yoga Studio in Northern Baja California, Mexico. Hannah draws upon her many years of experience as a dancer, gymnast, and Yogi to create fun and inspiring classes. She loves to make her students laugh, and to help them get the most from their yoga practice. Hannah believes that we are always refining, growing, and evolving in our practice on and off the mat.

Hannah will be joyfully assisted by her mother and sister (fellow yoga instructors) in Tulum!

Marty Bader is a certified Vinyasa teacher (RYT 200) and is registered with Yoga Alliance. She recently retired from teaching 20 years in the Fresno public school system. She has been a long time practitioner of Iyengar yoga. She has also studied and practiced Intu-flow, a program developed by Scott Sonnon. This is a systematic flow through all the joints in the body. These movements help lubricate the joints for greater joint mobility. Every joint carries a specific emotional component, so restoring the mobility in all areas helps discharge emotion-blocking energy. Marty believe that connecting the body’s movement with the prana or breath energy can move the practitioner toward better physical and mental health.

Rachel Luttrell is a Certified Yoga Instructor registered with Yoga Alliance. Rachel has always been profoundly affected by the power of the mind /body connection. Having studied movement and dance for over 25 years, she was then introduced to yoga. Immediately she found a love for the practice and teachings. Now, having found many ways to incorporate both disciplines, Rachel’s focus is to encourage her students to look past the superficial and into the heart of the body and mind’s maladies. She believes by incorporating all the great teachings of the yogis that came before us, we can begin to achieve more peace and balance in our lives as we move through the physical practice.
O2 Yoga with Mimi Loureiro

Maya Tulum Resort
Mimi has been living and breathing her dream of being a full-time yoga teacher since she created O2 Yoga in 1998. O2 is a system she believes is like no other for changing and improving body, mind and spirit. She has a BS in nutrition, a BA in psychoogy, and and MS in exercise physiology. Feeling centered, grounded and peaceful involves all facets of the physical and energetic body. Yoga is a natural extension of this belief. "Yoga represents a way of harnessing all the good energy, focusing it on one point, to creat a more harmonious individual and therefore a more peaceful world," she says. Her infectious enthusiam and love for teaching comes through in everything she does. She specializes in strong anatomical focus, adjusting the body to better align and stregthen the spine and therefore create better posture, better mood, better interactions with the world and a more centered and quiet mind.

Mimi's creation, O2 Yoga, is a unique system that draws from the philosophy of the eight-limbed path of Patanjali. O2 Yoga in athletic, empowering, energizing and life-changing. O2 Yoga is a community of teachers and students who believe in the connection to all living beings and therefore our responsibility to be conscious of all of our actions, words and intentions. O2 Yoga encourages a proactive interaction with the world.

This retreat offers two O2 Yoga classes daily, one taught by Mimi, and the other by one of our awesome O2 teachers. Mimi and her family, O2 Yoga and her sons and husband, have been going to Maya Tulum for over 15 years and it keeps getting better and better.

"It is our nature to joyfully awaken with the body as the vessel." Debbie Leoni

Imagine a spirit filled week of Sukhava Bodhe, Joyful Awakening, as you wake up to the sound of the waves renewing your soul. Too often, we function in "asleep" mode, being unaware of what has us feeling passionate, alive and purposeful. "Joyful Awakening" comes in many forms and being in this Mayan oasis will offer you the opportunity to experience awakening through movement, yoga, meditation and workshops.

Not only will you experience the power from the group energy and feel connected; you will also be offered the personal attention from Debbie Leoni as she guides you to remember your true life's purpose and passion.

The week will consist of: 2 yoga classes daily, guided meditation, and on some days you will be offered a "Joyful Awakening" workshop. Debbie teaches all level yoga classes that will include yin, vinyasa, and ashtanga, with a focus on mindfulness throughout. Expect to laugh, play, sweat, breathe, feel safe and deeply connect to yourself and enjoy the rhythms of your body before, during and after your practice. The week will also include a sacred ritual in the labyrinth guided by Debbie.

There will be plenty of time for exploration in the beautiful Yucatan Peninsula where you can enjoy alone time on the beach, shopping, spa treatment and excursions. The Tulum ruins, Coba and swimming in the magical waters of a Cenote will lend to your experience of joyful awakenings. Debbie will lead you

Debbie Leoni first and foremost, is a lover of life. There's nothing more rewarding to Debbie than to support others towards transformation. Debbie has over 30 years in the wellness field from owning a personal training business, international speaker, professional coach and retreat leader, author and yoga instructor. Debbie believes that everything is spiritual and she walks the talk by leading others into mindfulness and creating the life of their dreams.
Evolutionary Retreat with Jenni Fox and Paul Gould

February 4, 2017 · 2:00 pm
Maya Tulum Resort
These two popular and gifted teachers return to Maya Tulum for their 23rd season welcoming you--both new and experienced students and teachers. Combining 40+ years of practicing and teaching, Jenni & Paul’s yoga continues to evolve, respecting your needs--whatever age-- with intuition, knowledge, respect and intelligence in an atmosphere of compassionate and heart felt support. Says one student (JK of California) “Jenni and Paul don’t force complicated poses on people whose bodies can’t do them. They take me where I can’t go myself, and it always feels appropriate, safe and still challenging for me.”

Enjoy fun, spirited morning practices focusing on functional strength and mobility. Focus is on developing life-long life- enhancing habits with two sets of skilled hands and eyes to help you stay in optimal alignment. Afternoon practices include Restorative Yoga, Meditation and Inner Journey practices.
From Paul: “While we respect the many systems of yoga we have studied and practiced, we focus primarily on the student--who you are, where you are in your life, what you need. From there we focus on awareness of habit patterns, strength and proper movement mechanics. Physically we value working efficiently in correct alignment, breathing fully, resting sufficiently and enjoying the process as hallmarks of intelligent yoga practice that helps us move through life being who we want to be, feeling how we want to feel.”

From Jenni: “We believe flexibility comes from balanced strength. We explore and often create postures that mimic everyday movements and the athleticism that requires balancing, rotational action and extension to help us build a stronger foundation and core. We often use a variety of tools including balls, foam rollers, bands, poles, massagers, anything that can help stimulate circulation and release and mobilize connective tissue.”

These two are grateful for and bring to their teaching their eclectic background of studies including Iyengar®, Anusara®, Yoga Therapy, Zen Buddhist Meditation, the Nia ® Technique, Brad Bartenen’s elite training, Hakomi, RCS (Recreating the Self) methods, trauma therapy and their own ever- evolvoing Yoga practice.

Dance with the Veil
May 6, 2017 · 11:00 am -
May 13, 2017 · 2:00 pm
Maya Tulum Resort
Qoya Retreat with Kaci Florez May 6 - 13, 2017

Qoya is based on the idea that through movement we remember our true essence as women as being wise, wild, and free. Drawing from the wisdom of yoga, the wild and creative expression of dance, and the freedom to feel pleasure in our bodies through feminine movement, Qoya helps us to connect with all parts of ourselves, the seen and the unseen, on both sides of the veil.

The path of a woman is circular. Cyclical. We know as surely as we know spring will come, that our joys and challenges are both temporary. Our desire then isn’t to stay still, stuck in either fear or love. Our desire is to dance. To move back and forth between the challenges and joys, honoring the past and celebrating the present while looking towards the future with trust that no matter what comes, you will know how to dance with it. What if your willingness to feel it all is a portal to your awakening? It’s often said that the veil between life and death is very thin. But what if this imaginary veil was actually nothing more than the skin and body you live in?

What if the only difference between living on earth and living in spirit form is the body?

Kaci believes: -Our physical body is a portal to understanding and experiencing non-physical parts of ourselves and our world. -That by fully exploring and honoring our physical body, we can lift the veil on our spiritual Self. -We can access our infinite nature and bring the wisdom of our wholeness to this life right now, here on earth.

On this retreat, we will dance with the veil through daily movement, nourishing food, time in nature, deep rest, ritual, and honest connections with likeminded wise women.

Learn more about Qoya at www.qoya.love and register for this retreat at http:// kaciflorez.com/retreats/tulum-retreat
